Dagun, Victory College top performing Gympie schools 2022

An independent analysis of newly-released 2022 NAPLAN results have revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests in Gympie region.

An independent analysis of newly-released 2022 NAPLAN results has revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.

To determine how each school performed in 2022, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Yr 5 or Yr 9) were combined and the average found.

Here are the top performing Gympie primary and secondary schools.

Top performing Gympie secondary schools

The top performing secondary school was Victory College, with the average result of 562.0.

Success for Victory College was attributed to a complete curriculum review in the past two years, along with a great team, a lot of hard working teachers and students, and support services, said middle college head Terence Dayes,

“We’ve looked at best practice, we’ve reviewed our teaching methodology, reduced our staffing turnover, and developed a curriculum that’s well-targeted to our student body,” he said.

“We‘re going to continue to strive to maintain the standard.

“We’ve just started our practice exams today for Year 7. We’re getting them used to the process and ensuring they know what’s involved in it so it’s not so scary when you do the real ones.”

St Patrick‘s College in Gympie was the second best for the region, with an average score of 560.2, while Cooloola Christian College was the third best with an average score of 558.0.

Top performing Gympie primary schools

Dagun State School had better primary results than any other school in the Gympie region, scoring an average of 510.0 across the five test subjects.

Dagun school principal Jane Desmarchelier expressed pride in hearing this news.

“We are very proud of all our student achievements and our NAPLAN results reflect this,” she said.

“Our small school has consistently produced quality learning and our staff are dedicated in their endeavours in supporting every child at Dagun.

Gunalda State School was the second best for the region with an average score of 484.2, while Rainbow Beach State School was the third best with an average score of 481.2.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government‘s MySchool website.
