Gympie’s main street came to life with patrons dressing to the nines to enjoy a Melbourne Cup day lunch and cheer on their picks for the winning horse. See all the photos:

The fascinators, frocks, gowns, hats and jackets came out in full style as the main street of Gympie filled with happy and hopeful Melbourne Cup spectators eager to celebrate the race that stops the nation.

Avid punters, those their luck at the sweeps, and guests taking the opportunity to simply dress up and hang with the office or co-workers were among the crown partying away Melbourne Cup Day and bringing joy to the start of November.

Gympie’s RSL and The Dolly and Oats lounge bar were the places to be this year, each sold out venue full of well-dressed patrons enjoying lunch and drinks.
