Fire fighters, ambulance crews and police converged on Toucan Coffee in Gympie at midday on Tuesday after fire broke out in a coffee machine.
The incident drew a great deal of attention initially as it “came through” to the fire station as a structure fire, but once firefighters arrived at the scene near the corner of Monkland Street and the Bruce Highway it was clear the fire had been contained to a coffee machine and had been extinguished.
At that point fire fighters carried out tests on the air inside the store to ensure there were no toxins in the air, firefighter James Tomlinson from the Gympie Fire Station said.
He said it was normal procedure for ambulance, fire and fire fighters to initially attend anything reported as a structure fire, then they scale down their operation from there.
