Alleged firearm offenders involved in Amamoor crash, taken to hospital

The couple who sell firearms are facing multiple firearms related offences but had to be taken to hospital aftering being involved in a three-car crash on the Mary Valley Highway on Monday morning while on their way to court.

An Amamoor Creek couple accused of multiple firearm related offences were involved in a three-vehicle crash at Amamoor on Monday morning, and were taken to hospital ahead of their scheduled court appearance in Gympie.

Wendy Joy Bull, 64, and Bruce Francis Bull, 66, were to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday morning when the courthouse received a call that they had been involved in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mary Valley Rd and Blackgate Rd.

The couple was taken to Gympie Hospital with minor injuries.

Mrs Bull is charged with seven offences, including not securing weapons as a licensee, fraud, a cross-border offence of incorrect disposal of a firearm and possessing four unregistered firearms.

Mr Bull is charged with fraud, a cross-border offence of incorrect disposal of a firearm, not securing weapons as a licensee, keeping loaded firearms, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Defence lawyer Lindsay Hall told the court Mrs Bull had been self employed as a firearms dealer for the past 12 years, and Mr Bull helped run the the business.

Mr Hall appeared in court without his clients to ask for an adjournment for a summary trial scheduled for the end of July, which Magistrate Chris Callaghan denied.

The court heard Mr Bull intended to plead not guilty.

Mrs Bull will face trial on July 27. Mr Bull will also appear in the Gympie court that day for mention.
