A 36-year-old Curra man facing charges of importing items related to firearms without government approval, requested his matter be adjourned to seek legal advice this week.

Craig Kenneth Barker appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday via videolink from custody, where he entered no plea but asked his matter be adjourned to obtain legal advice.

Magistrate Andrew Walker said the three charges against Barker allege he tried to import items relating to firearms without government approval in July and August of 2020.

It was not specified what the items were and due to the nature of the charges, Barker will be prosecuted by the Commonwealth Government.

He will reappear in Gympie Magistrates Court for mention on July 15.
