Gympie dad Alex Greig, who was involved in a horror car and truck crash near Toowoomba on July 8, is no longer in a critical condition, a Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital spokesperson said.

A media spokesperson for the hospital said Mr Greig, who was airlifted to the RBWH on July 8 with critical injuries, was now in a stable condition and no longer critical.

They could not confirm if he remained in an induced coma.

The Victory Heights family of five was travelling to a family reunion near Toowoomba, when the SUV Mr Greig was driving collided with a truck on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Rd at Mt Irving.

Mr Greig’s wife, Jessica, 29, was killed instantly and their eldest daughter, Giselle, 12, died at the scene.

A funeral was held for Jessica and Giselle at Victory College on Wednesday, where more than 200 mourners grieved the loss of the beloved Gympie mum and the Victory College Year 7 student. Jessica worked as a nurse on the Sunshine Coast.

The Greig’s two youngest children, Jett, 10, and Oceana, 7, survived the crash and are in the care of their grandparents.

A GoFundMe was also started on July 12, by a family friend, and has raised more than $53,000 so far.

The funds will help pay for funeral costs for Jessica and Giselle, and education fees for Jett and Oceana.
