A Gold Coast energy healer extradited from Thailand after allegedly skipping out on a rape trial in Queensland has been banned from working by the state’s health watchdog.

A Gold Coast energy healer who was extradited from Thailand after allegedly skipping out on a rape trial in Queensland has been banned from working by the state’s health watchdog.
The ban on Helio Taiyang Matahari working as a kinesiologist was imposed by the Office of the Health Ombudsman on January 20.
Matahari, who also goes by the names David Harris Cox, David Harris Cock, David Helio Cox-Matahari, David Helio Cock and Helio Taiyang Richardson, must not provide or support any health service, paid or otherwise, in a clinical or non-clinical capacity.
The ban remains in place until the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision to issue the order, if Matahari applies to set it aside, or if the health ombudsman revokes the order.
The 63-year-old was extradited from Thailand in September last year after a warrant was issued for his arrest after he had failed to show for a criminal hearing in Queensland in 2021.
He had been due to face a four-day trial for rape and sexual assault in June 2022.
He appeared briefly in a Brisbane court in September last year.
He is facing two charges of rape and 13 charges of sexual assault in the District Court in Brisbane in relation to offences which allegedly occurred in late 2017 and early 2018, court records state.
He has not entered any pleas.
The charges return to court on Thursday for a mention.
