Riley O’Neal’s family share heartbreaking message for their son
The family of a teen who ‘lived the life of Riley’ has spoken of his zest for the outdoors, friends and fishing following his tragic death in 4WD incident on a remote beach at the weekend.

A larger than life teen who tragically died at the weekend has been identified as Riley O’Neal.
His family released a statement to the Observer saying they were heartbroken their beloved son, brother had died following an accident on Saturday at Rodds Peninsula in Eurimbula.
“Riley lived the life of Riley, filling it with all of his favourite things including friends, camping, fishing and being outdoors,” the family said.
“Forever 19, so forever loved and deeply missed.”
Outpourings of support have been expressed from the Gladstone community and Riley’s friends. One posting to Facebook: “Thoughts go out to your family. You’ll be forever loved and missed brother.”
Emergency services were called to the scene after the vehicle Riley was in rolled; unfortunately, he died away at the scene in Rodds Peninsula, a remote beach.
It is understood Riley worked as an apprentice at the Boyne Smelter and attended school at Chanel College in Gladstone.
Investigations into the cause of the incident on Saturday are still ongoing, no one else was injured.
Riley’s family have asked for privacy and understanding and said anyone wanting to offer condolences could so-so by making donations to the Volunteer Marine Rescue, RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Service through the make an in-memory donation or to the Gladstone Brothers RLFC.
