Traffic offenders who faced Gladstone Magistrates Court

One of the drink drivers caught in the Gladstone region was seen driving with no lights on during the early hours of the morning.

The following people recently pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to either drink or drug-driving, or unlicensed driving, on the region’s roads.

Traffic conviction recorded

Candice Lee Betts, 41

Candice Lee Betts was caught driving with methamphetamine in her system on the Dawson Highway at Banana on December 7 last year.

Betts pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 6 to drug driving.

With no previous similar offending, Betts was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Adam Danny Harris, 21

Adam Danny Harris returned a blood alcohol reading of .135 after police intercepted him driving at Gladstone Central on January 22.

Harris pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 6 to drink driving.

The court heard that on the morning of Harris’s offending, police saw him driving with no lights on about 3.48am.

With a previous drink driving offence on his history from 2020, Harris was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for five months.

Christopher Robert Cooke, 27

Christopher Robert Cooke returned a blood alcohol reading of .056 after police intercepted him driving on Hampton Drive in Tannum Sands on January 20.

Cooke pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 6 to drink driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, Cooke was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for two months.

He successfully applied for a restricted work licence for his job as a diesel fitter.

Angelique Jane Davis, 55

Angelique Jane Davis blew a reading of .109 after she was intercepted by police on Burrows Street, West Gladstone, on February 10.

Davis pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 27 to drink driving.

The court heard that prior to intercepting Davis, police saw her drive from a nearby pub.

With no previous offending of this sort, Davis was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Bradley John Harding, 43

Bradley John Harding was caught driving while SPER-suspended on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby, on January 29.

Harding pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 27 to unlicensed driving.

The court heard that Harding had previous unlicensed driving offending on his traffic history.

He was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Jamie Steven Stainkey, 43,

Jamie Steven Stainkey was caught driving while SPER-suspended on Sun Valley Road in Kin Kora on February 5.

Stainkey pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 27 to unlicensed driving.

With previous unlicensed driving offending on his traffic history, Stainkey was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for two months.

Rochelle Emma Dunlea, 40

Rochelle Emma Dunlea pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 27 to being in charge of a motor vehicle while over the middle alcohol limit.

The court heard that on February 3 at 5.10pm, Dunlea was a front seat passenger in a Holden Commodore being driven by a male learner’s licence holder.

Police intercepted the vehicle on the Dawson Highway at Calliope and Dunlea submitted a roadside breath test which returned a positive reading.

The court heard that Dunlea told police she drank two litres of wine between midnight and 4am that day.

Dunlea subsequently returned a blood alcohol reading of .112.

With no prior offending of this sort, Dunlea was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Rebecca Constance Tyrrell, 25

Rebecca Constance Tyrrell pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 6 to drink driving.

The court heard that about midnight on December 15 last year, police attended a single vehicle crash on the Dawson Highway in West Gladstone.

It was told Tyrrell had crashed the vehicle into a median strip fence.

She subsequently returned a blood alcohol reading of .234.

Tyrrell was fined $1200 and disqualified from driving for eight months.

No traffic conviction recorded

Aidan William Noonan, 18

P-plater Aidan William Noonan blew a reading of .054 after he was intercepted by police on Malpas Street in Boyne Island on January 26.

Noonan pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 27 to drink driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, Noonan was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No traffic conviction was recorded.
