A motorcyclist has died at the scene of a horrific collision with a car in the Gladstone region.
It is understood the 61-year-old South Gladstone man’s motorcycle crashed into the back of a vehicle travelling east on the Dawson Highway near Far Street in West Gladstone just after 7pm.
The driver of the car, a 51-year-old Beerwah man, and several bystanders rendered first aid to the motorcyclist but he died at the scene.
Neither the Beerwah man, nor his female passenger were injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
The incident comes after a horror start to the year on Queensland roads, with more than a dozen people dying in crashing across the state since January 1.
Last year, Queensland recorded its worst year for road fatalities since 2009 with 299 deaths.
