A case against a Central Queensland man accused of six serious sexual offences is being held up by evidence delays.

A case against a Central Queensland man accused of six serious sexual offences has been held up by evidence delays.

The man, aged in his 30s, is charged with three counts each of rape and sexual assault and had his matters heard in Gladstone Magistrates Court earlier this month.

Defence lawyer Jaimee-Lee Jessop appeared for the man, who cannot be named due to the nature of the charges.

Ms Jessop told the court this was the fourth time the matter had been mentioned and there were “ongoing issues with a named person”.

Ms Jessop said she and her client were awaiting a court report.

Acting magistrate Mary Buchanan said when the matter was last heard in Gladstone court in late February, Ms Jessop had received two statements from police prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins, and that three were requested, one of which was sent that day.

“On March 6 we sent a statement to a different named person, there was a recording of a Snapchat conversation that was sent, and a voice recording of a crime scene warrant,” Sergeant Hoskins said.

“Since that date we have received a request for disclosure on March 13, requesting about nine things.”

Sergeant Hoskins asked for four weeks to allow all of the requested material to be gathered.

Ms Jessop said there were two further documents being sought, including crime scene photos.

The matter was adjourned to April 7, 2023. The man is on bail.
