A Gladstone woman on probation was caught by police driving drunk on two occasions while disqualified by court order, a court heard.

Kelly Leigh Arnold, 30, pleaded guilty in the Gladstone Magistrates Court last Friday to two counts of drink driving and one count of unlicensed driving.

Senior Constable Carl Spargo outlined Arnold’s offending, the worst of which occurred on April 6, 2021.

Around 10.30pm that night, police were called to reports of a man and Arnold fighting on Goondoon Street.

Upon arrival, police located and separated the pair before observing Arnold’s bloodshot eyes, flushed face and slurred speech.

Police were told by the informant Arnold had driven to the location of the fight around 10.10pm.

They reviewed CCTV footage which confirmed Arnold had driven to the scene and made her take a breath test.

When questioned regarding her alcohol consumption, Arnold stated she had consumed a six pack of Bundy Rum cans around 5pm that afternoon.

At the conclusion of her second breath test at the Gladstone police station a certificate was issued which showed Arnold had a blood alcohol reading of 0.127.

She was issued a notice to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Mr Spargo said Arnold had shown a complete disregard for licencing requirements and for the safety of road users.

“She committed these offences while on probation which shows contempt for the court also, Your Honour,” Mr Spargo said.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and fined Arnold $1500 and suspended her from driving for two and a half years. Convictions were recorded.
