A huge haul of drugs and weapons have been taken off Gladstone streets after a four-day operation led by local police with the help of Taskforce Maxima.

Sixteen people have been charged with 60 offences after police executed eight search warrants and seized a firearms and dangerous drugs, including cannabis, methamphetamine, and cocaine between May 22 and 26.

Officer in Charge of Gladstone CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Richard said police will continue to exercise a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal drugs and weapons in Gladstone.

“We will continue to target offenders and do everything we can to keep dangerous weapons and illicit drugs from our streets,” said Det Snr Sgt Richard.

“Officers will continue their campaign to disrupt and prevent illicit firearms and drugs and the harm they cause to our community, and we urge anyone with information to contact police.”

On May 24, police executed a search warrant at a Haddock Drive residence and located two firearms and a quantity of ammunition, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

A 32-year-old Glen Eden woman was arrested and charged with two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon (rifle), and possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), and possession of detachable magazines without a license.

She is due to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on June 17.

A 44-year-old Gracemere man was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon (rifle), and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), and possession of detachable magazines without a license.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on June 9.

A 40-year-old O’Connell man was arrested and charged with one count of possessing utensils.

He is due to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on June 30.

Investigations are continuing.
