A man involved in a Central Queensland nightclub fight which had to be “broken up” by police officers has faced court.

Brendan James Prizeman, 36, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on February 26 to charges including public nuisance in the vicinity of a licensed premises.

Police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said about 4.15am on January 1, Prizeman was at Gladstone’s Mieplace Niteclub when he got into a physical altercation with another man.

The court heard that police had to break up the fight.

The security guard said he saw Prizeman wrap his arms around the man’s head and throw him to the ground.

The court heard Prizeman also attempted to strike the man and the security guard had said the fight was “one way.”

It was told Prizeman had a one-page criminal history with no prior offending of this sort.

A solicitor said Prizeman, a father of five, was currently unemployed having previously worked as a scaffolding supervisor and leading hand.

The solicitor said Prizeman was intoxicated on the night of the incident and he could not remember a lot about it.

Magistrate Mary Buchanan placed Prizeman on 12 months’ probation and convictions were recorded.
