Police are on the hunt for an armed person in Gladstone after a robbery at a local liquor store on Monday morning.

Officers were called to Liquorland on Shaw Street in New Auckland at 10.30am after a hold up alarm was activated.

Store staff told police they had been robbed at knifepoint.

It is understood the offender made off with some money and alcohol.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said officers were “actively responding” to the incident and no one was in custody.

Investigations are continuing.
