Member for Callide Colin Boyce selected to run as Flynn candidate in upcoming Federal election

The LNP has announced their candidate for the seat of Flynn in the upcoming Federal election; and it means voters will end up having to vote in two elections if a major party wins the seat.

Member for Callide Colin Boyce has been selected by local members of the Liberal National Party to represent the party at the upcoming federal election in the seat of Flynn.

Boyce’s selection means a by-election looms if either major party claim victory in the electorate.

President of the LNP Cynthia Hardy said Mr Boyce was known for being a hard working representative who was not afraid to stand up for his region.

“Colin knows the people and the needs of this regional federal electorate and has experience dealing with Government. He knows how to get things done,” Ms Hardy said.

“I’ve already spoken with the Deputy Prime Minister, Barnaby Joyce, and the campaign begins tomorrow night in Gladstone.

“Ken O’Dowd has been served the people of Flynn as their representative since 2010.

“Ken has delivered in spades for this region and Colin will continue the work to deliver better infrastructure and local services.”

Mr Boyce said he was very excited to be chosen as the LNP candidate for Flynn.

“There are serious challenges to be addressed to secure our region’s long term economic security, including energy and water supply,” Mr Boyce said.

“I will always stand up for our region and make sure our voices are heard and our needs are being addressed.

“The next federal election will be extremely close.

“The people of Flynn will have to make a choice between the strong and responsible economic management of the Morrison-Joyce Liberal National Government, that is implementing the right plan for recovery from COVID-19 or higher taxes and even more bureaucracy from Labor and each way Albo.”

Long serving Member for Flynn, Ken O’Dowd, will retire at the next election.
