Four people are currently on the way to the Australian mainland after being rescued from West Hoskyn Island, off the coast of Gladstone, after their boat sank early Sunday morning.
According to a Queensland Police Service spokesman the four people will be dropped off at Lady Musgrave Island by a rescue helicopter, and then be transported by police boat and Volunteer Marine Rescue to Round Hill Creek.
A Queensland ambulance spokeswoman said a helicopter landed on West Hoskyn Island just after 7am on Sunday, after crews were first alerted to the incident about 4.40am.
She said no one appeared to have had suffered any injuries after the 6m boat the group was travelling on sank.
