Gladstone residents worry about job security, psychic says

JOB security, paying bills and concern about their children's future are what's worrying Gladstone residents, according to a psychic in town this week.

IF you really wanted to know how people were feeling, you need only talk to a psychic.

Gabriele the travelling psychic has been set up at the Gladstone Valley Shopping Centre for the past week and is better placed than most to judge what people are really worried about.

"I find the questions people have are changing," she said.

"They're starting to become down-to-earth. They're asking: 'Will I keep my job? Will my children be alright? Will I be able to do my bills?' It's no more the spooky stuff… that's all gone.

"I do believe they are worried about their lives now, more so than in the past maybe."

Gabriele said she had been coming to Gladstone for more than a decade.

"I find people in Gladstone are open to this, and I'm usually quite booked out," Gabriele said.

However, she's noticed a marked trend upward in recent times as people start to worry about the future.

With job losses constantly in the headlines, this is the number one thing people want to discuss with Gabriele.

"They are coming to me to seek reassurance about their lives," she said.

"I honestly believe that we have the purpose of giving people hope as well. I think we're here to affirm to people that they're on the right path."

However, despite her business card reading "future reader", Gabriele said she did not actually read the future in the way most might expect.

"I'm a tarot reader, so I read cards. So I look at the synchronicity between a person's life and how the cards fall for them. But I believe in free will," she said.

"Your life is determined by your choice.

"I do not believe that it is pre-determined. You have free will, and it's very important that people realise it.

"The cards just show whether the path you take will work in your favour or against you."

Gabriele the travelling psychic is in town until Sunday.
