Gladstone Councillor and former Flynn MP, Chris Trevor recovering after near-fatal heart attack

A long-time Gladstone public servant is recovering at home after a serious heart attack. Find out when he hopes to return to the council chambers.

Prominent Gladstone representative and former federal parliamentarian Chris Trevor has taken leave following a near-fatal heart attack.

Mr Trevor, 61, is currently recovering at home with his family in Agnes Water after suffering a serious heart attack last month.

It is understood Mr Trevor is undergoing further rehabilitation and specialist consultation following the incident on August 8.

Informally known as CT, Mr Trevor has lived in the Gladstone region for more than five decades and is a Gladstone State High School alumnus.

He is a father of five with wife Colleen, and together they have five grandchildren.

He was elected as the inaugural Flynn MP when the large Central Queensland seat was formed in 2007.

Notionally a safe Nationals seat, Trevor won the seat for the Australian Labor Party when former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd personally anointed him as his preferred candidate.

Mr Trevor is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia, as well as a Justice of the Peace and Senior Counsellor of the Queensland Law Society.

Gladstone Regional Council mayor, Matt Burnett, passed on the well wishes of the community and said Mr Trevor was hopeful of returning to civic duties on Tuesday, November 1.

“On his behalf, he has requested me to thank everyone for their concern and well wishes,” Mayor Burnett said.

“On behalf of my fellow Councillors, Council staff, and the Gladstone Region community, I’d like to wish Chris a speedy and successful recovery.”

Mr Trevor was first elected to Council back in 2004 before returning in 2016.
