UPDATE: Gatton police have praised a motorists for their actions on the Warrego Highway on Saturday night.
Gatton police sergeant Daniel Curtin said the driver of the vehicle that hit a pedestrian on the highway did an "exceptional job to avoid killing him".
Sgt Curtin said a man from Toowoomba, who was possibly drug affected, was hit on the Warrego Highway near Gatton when trying to walk back to Toowoomba.
"He had minor injuries to his leg and foot, and is very lucky to be alive," Sgt Curtin said.
He said the vehicle involved in the accident sustained minor damage and the rear view mirror was taken off in the incident.
EARLIER: A male patient has been transported to hospital following a traffic accident on the Warrego Highway.
On Saturday night, paramedics attended a single-vehicle traffic incident on the Warrego Highway at Gatton at 6.34pm.
A police spokesperson said the accident occurred at the Gatton turnoff, travelling west-bound.
The male patient, the pedestrian, was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with minor injuries to the foot.
