Police patrolling the Warrego Highway have picked up an unlikely offender.

A dog, a young male Kelpie, was found by Gatton police officers walking along the side of the highway earlier this morning.

The dog is a young, male Kelpie with white with black and brown markings, who has a very friendly nature.

It has been taken to the pound, where it will stay until its owners have been found.

Anyone who may have lost the dog, or knows someone who has, should contact the Lockyer Valley Regional Council on 1300 005 872.
