The Heat was on in more ways than one at Brisbane’s iconic Gabba on Thursday night, with a bizarre fire interrupting play in the Big Bash League clash.
The electrical fire broke out on the DJ deck of the Gabba’s eastern stand, four overs into the Hobart Hurricanes’ run chase.

Nearby spectators were forced to get up from their seats as it took workers several minutes to extinguish the minor blaze, which generated much smoke.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said four crews were on scene.
“The fire was put out when we got there,” he said.
An ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics were there for “a minute” and no patients were reported.
