Telling police “you c---s aren’t arresting me tonight” backfired on a Hervey Bay man.

Shiloh Neilson, 22, pleaded guilty to public nuisance and obstructing police when he appeared before Hervey Bay Magistrates Court this week.

The court heard police were called to a disturbance on August 22.

When they arrived there were two men walking in an easterly direction on the Esplanade.

Neilson raised his middle finger at the officers and when they attempted to talk to him, he told them “f--- you c---s, you aren’t arresting me tonight”.

He was then arrested for public nuisance.

The court heard Neilson was seriously affected by alcohol and when he was taken back to the watchhouse he threatened to find police and their families and “f--- them up”.

He was aggressive and resisted police, the court heard.

The court heard Neilson had lost his father a few years ago and was still struggling.

He was fined $1000 and ordered to do 40 hours of community service.

Convictions were recorded.
