The case against a Hervey Bay teen charged with causing a deadly shed fire at Pacific Haven in 2022 was mentioned in Children’s Court on Wednesday, December 18, where it was revealed the teen had been moved to an adult prison.
The accused was arrested in Rockhampton when they were 18 on June 24, 2024 and charged with arson, murder and burglary.
The shed fire took place on February 18, 2022, on Pacific Haven Drive in Pacific Haven, killing 50-year-old Damian Ramsey, who was living there.
Caitlin Shannon-Dear of Legal Aid Queensland on Wednesday asked for a further disclosure request for outstanding material not handed over to the defence of the accused.
Ms Shannon-Dear noted that the arresting officer advised they would need an additional three weeks to provide the material.
Magistrate Trinity McGarvie granted a further adjournment into the new year.
Ms McGarvie warned the defence to not let matters “languish in the court” when the case was last mentioned on November 20, 2024.
The accused has been moved from Brisbane Youth Detention Centre to an adult offenders jail, the Capricornia Correctional Centre, 21km north of Rockhampton.
The case has been adjourned to February 5, 2025 for further committal mention.
