A carer involved in an “ongoing feud” was busted with illegal weapons, including knuckle dusters, a flick knife and cannabis when police raided his home.

Beau William Mccutcheon, 32, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and possessing an item suspected of being used in drug offences when he faced Maryborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police prosecutor Nick Jones said about 10.50am on July 4, 2025, police raided a Maryborough home and detained Mccutcheon, who told them there were drugs in the cupboard.

When asked what kind, he replied, “pot”, the court was told.

Senior Constable Jones said inside a cupboard above a sink was a clear bag containing green leafy material and a set of scales.

Police also found a black metal set of knuckle dusters and a knife with a one handed quick-release mechanism on the kitchen shelf.

When asked about the items, Mccutcheon said the knuckledusters were for his own protection as he was involved in an ongoing feud with another person who had made threats to attend his property.

The cannabis was later weighed and found to be a total of 28 grams.

Duty lawyer Warren Hunter said Mccutcheon had acquired the weapons through a friend for protection.

He was caring for his brother, who had a disability, and was receiving a pension, Mr Hunter said.

Magistrate John Milburn said Mccutcheon had the weapons for his own protection, not in public, but for a purpose that was not condoned by the courts.

Mccutcheon was fined $900 and convictions were recorded.

The items were forfeited.
