A Maryborough man who repeatedly turned up at the home of his former partner, including to demand a TV remote in the wee hours of the morning, later punched a police officer as he was being arrested.
The man pleaded guilty to three counts of contravening a domestic violence order, wilful damage and assaulting a police officer when he faced Maryborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police prosecutor Sonia Edwards said the man was not allowed within 100m of the victim or her home unless there was written permission.
On December 8, 2024, he had written permission to be at the Tinana home, but after an argument permission was withdrawn.
The man left the address but the next day at 4.30am went back.
The victim heard banging on the front door and opened the door.
The man entered the home and demanded the TV remote, Sgt Edwards said.
The woman gave him the remote to “get him out of the address as fast as she could”, she said.
On December 12, 2024, at 8am the man again went to the home without permission.
He tried to get inside but the woman kept the door locked.
The man yelled at her and another person that he would be back and police were called.
Later that day police spoke to the woman about the matter, then at midday the man returned to the home.
CCTV captured footage of him there, Sgt Edwards told the court.
When police approached, they saw his vehicle and he was stopped.
He told police he was at the home to collect clothes before he was placed under arrest.
When the woman returned home she found the front door lock damaged and the mesh window cut, Sgt Edwards said.
In a separate matter on February 10, 2025, police went to a Maryborough home about 9am to question the man.
There was aggression towards the police, Sgt Edwards said, and he was arrested.
While he was being escorted, he punched an officer in the forearm with a closed fist.
The man was then transported to the Maryborough watch-house.
The man was fined $1400 and convictions were recorded.
