A Burrum Town man accused of rape and indecently dealing with a disabled person has had his matter mentioned in court.

The 41-year-old is charged with one count of rape and one count of indecent dealing with a person with an impairment of the mind.

He has yet to enter pleas for either charge.

Lawyer Virginia Ukpabi told the court the man had engaged her firm in assisting him to review the brief of evidence.

She applied for a four-week adjournment.

This was granted by Magistrate Trinity McGarvie who adjourned the matter to April 11 for further committal mention.

She enlarged the man’s bail.

Bail was not opposed by police prosecutor Louese McConnell.
