Darlene Elizabeth Shanks charged with fraud
A Urraween woman will face court over allegations she defrauded a person of more than $100,000 over two-and-a-half years.

A Fraser Coast woman charged with a $100,000 fraud entered no plea when she fronted Hervey Bay District Court on August 28, 2023.
Darlene Elizabeth Shanks, 52, of Urraween, is charged that between July 29, 2019, and December 4, 2021, she dishonestly gained a financial advantage for herself to the value of more than $100,000.

Ms Shanks, who the court heard was self-represented through the committal proceedings, was instructed to have a submission sent by her legal representatives to the Mr Francis with the matter to be mentioned at a later district court sitting.

Crown prosecutor Joshua Francis said that because the matter was in regard to more than “200 transactions” the time frame would depend on the complexities of the submission made by Ms Shanks’ legal representatives.
