Chantel Ann Gilbey pleaded guilty to two counts of contravening a peace and good behaviour order when she faced the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The court heard the order had been made against Gilbey by a neighbour.

About 3pm on May 14, 2024, the victim was going about their daily routine, feeding birds in his front yard.

The court heard Gilbey had approached him and began shouting abusive language towards him, telling him “the f—king council told you you’re not allowed to feed the birds you f—king c—t”.

She continued yelling at the victim, who walked back inside and called the police.

On May 15, at 2.26pm, Gilbey again spoke to the man in the front yard, saying “you’re a f —king pig, taking your clothes off in front of my children, you f —king idiot, you’re disgusting”.

That was captured on the victim’s mobile phone and the footage was provided to police.

When police later spoke to Gilbey, she made full admissions in relation to both charges.

The court heard Gilbey was 40 years old and had no criminal history.

Gilbey was of otherwise good character and was employed as a social worker, the court heard.

The complainant was also the subject of a peace and good behaviour order, the court was told.

Gilbey was fined $650 for each offence.

No convictions were recorded.
