Young woman tragically dies in horror crash

A 19-year-old woman has died after her car left the road and hit a tree during a heavy storm, resulting in the highway being closed for hours.

Emergency crews have rushed to the Isis Hwy after a car crashed into a tree with the driver trapped inside.

A 19-year-old woman has tragically died in a single-vehicle crash at Woowoonga in the North Burnett region on Sunday afternoon.

Queensland Police said the car was driving east on the Isis Highway at 3:40 pm when the car left the road and hit a tree near an intersection with Giles Road.

The 19-year-old Biggenden woman, who was the driver and sole occupant of the car, sadly died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit are currently investigating the incident.

Police closed the regional Queensland highway for hours following the serious crash.

The crash has coincided with a heavy storm crossing over the north of Biggenden.
