A father of three who was busted with meth later failed to make a court appearance because his flatmate had Covid.

Peter-James Stevens, 40, pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs, failing to appear in court and failing to provide identifying particulars to police.

Maryborough Magistrate’s Court heard Stevens had been busted with meth in Brisbane when police searched a vehicle.

Stevens had made admissions to having a small amount of the drug, the court was told.

He then compounded the offence by failing to provide police with his identifying particulars within the required time frame.

But Stevens had later attended the station, the court heard.

He had then been forced to isolate after his flatmate had contracted Covid.

But on the day of his scheduled court appearance, he had not contacted the court to say he could not attend.

The court heard Stevens was “regretful and remorseful” for his actions.

He was fined $600 and no convictions were recorded.
