Storm clouds threatened but the 30-strong Fraser Coast Year 12 graduates who were not permitted to attend their school formal were determined to have a blast at their ‘anti-formal’, held at the Arkarra Gardens on Thursday night.
Just like a regular school formal, a crowd of family, friends and onlookers helped welcomed the attendees as they arrived at their alternate event.
Also just like a regular school formal, the graduates were beautiful and excited to be there.

Chief organiser Relina Withers, a Hervey Bay High student said: “We wanted to give everybody a chance to celebrate the end of 13 years of schooling. There were many obstacle but, we made it.”

Her thoughts were echoed by father Clint Taylor who said: “It is fantastic they have made it after going through so much”.
