Police were called to the Carriers Arms Hotel Motel in Alice Street about 9.40am after Tyeson was found unresponsive. He was declared dead at the scene after paramedics tried to revive him. Police have not revealed his cause of death.

They said on Thursday that was now in the hands of the coroner.

Teleah Matthews first met Tyeson Mackie at his 15th birthday party when she was 14 years old, and the pair soon became a couple.

While they later drifted apart romantically, they maintained and grew a strong and supportive friendship.

“Tyeson was a very family oriented person. It was very important to him, and he spent a lot of time with those he loved,” Teleah said.

“His personality was something everyone gravitated towards, which is why he had so many dear friends. He was the life of the party and loyalty was just one of his many great attributes.

“I always said to him he has such a kind heart and he deserves the best in life. I know he was passionate about MMA and wanted to get back into it again.

“He was a thrill seeker and when we were younger we went to the Maryborough Show together and he would ride on all the biggest and fastest rides there.

“I will miss our deep conversations about our lives and having someone who just always makes you feel comfortable and just happy. It was something I always looked forward to.

“He always wanted to have children and a loving family of his own, and I am so glad he had the chance to experience fatherhood.”

Police said on Thursday they would prepare a report for the coroner on Tyeson’s sudden and non-suspicious death and that “any further determinations around cause of death will be up to the state coroner, not police”.

“Around 9:40am, police were called to a Alice Street premises after a man was found unresponsive,” they said.

“The 27-year-old Maryborough man was declared deceased at the scene. ”

Friends of Tyeson have created a fundraiser to support his family.

The Gofundme page created by Christine Rosin and Sean McKenna says the fundraiser has the aim of “rais(ing) money for the Mackie family following the tragic loss of their eldest son, Tyeson”.

His brother Lachie Mackie paid tribute to “my role model and also my best friend”.

“I love you so much, my brother. I thank you for everything you have taught me in life, the good and the bad! “Never in my life (have) I pictured this to happen. It’s so unfair. I have so much I just want to talk to you about.”
