New ‘Waste Monsters’ on waste trucks across Fraser Coast

Three new Waste Monsters will be getting rolled out across the Fraser Coast, joining the 16 other monsters already adorning the region’s waste trucks.

Concrete Claire, Cyclops Charly and Henry the Safety Hero join 16 other monsters already on council waste trucks.

Hervey Bay is set to welcome three new “Waste Monsters” in the coming days.

Named Concrete Clair, Cyclops Charlie and Henry the Safety Hero, each monster will adorn one of the city’s waste trucks and will educate residents about the importance of proper recycling.

Creating positive recycling traits, especially among younger residents is the aim for the Fraser Coast Regional Council which is behind the initiative. Deputy Mayor Darren Everard said the monsters would “help spread important waste and recycling lessons” in particular among younger residents.

Nineteen waste trucks across the coast now have a Waste Monster on them.

The three newest monsters each come with their own message. Clair‘s focus is on the different methods of recycling; Charlie shines a light on illegal dumping and Henry is all about staying safe around waste trucks.

The council will be rotating the route each truck takes to allow residents the chance to see the different designs.

The programs along with the upgrading of the Material Recovery Facility in Dundowran continue the council’s focus on waste and recycling.

The focus is welcomed as the region in the past has struggled with littering. On one weekend in 2018, 6 tonnes of rubbish were recovered from Fraser Island alone.
