A Hervey Bay woman has vowed to have a glass of bubbly to celebrate becoming the nation’s newest millionaire after she claimed a division one prize.

A woman in Hervey Bay has become a millionaire after a lotto win.

A Hervey Bay woman was stunned to become the nation’s newest millionaire on Wednesday night and plans to visit Tasmania with her winnings.

The woman held the only division one winning entry in the Weekday Windfall, pocketing $1m.

So far in 2024, there have been six division one winning entries in the Wide Bay-Burnett region collectively taking home more than $6.93m in prize money.

The woman received the news on Thursday morning when she received multiple notifications from lottery officials urging her to check her Weekday Windfall ticket.

“I’ve always wanted to win division one, but I never expected it to happen to me,” she said.

A Hervey Bay woman is gearing up for a Tasmanian holiday after winning a Weekly Windfall prize.

“My husband got an email this morning about a major win, but it didn’t say the prize amount.

“I ran straight to the newsagency and on the way, I missed a couple of calls.

“Now you’re telling me that I’ve won one million dollars. I can’t believe it.”

The woman said she had promised herself, in the past, that if she was a division one winner she would keep it a secret.

“But it’s too hard to contain,” she said.

“I’d love to go back home and visit Tasmania.

“Oh dear. I think I need a glass of bubbly to celebrate.”

Her winning 15-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency.

Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency manager Kylie Bromhead said she was elated and immensely proud to hear her outlet had sold another division one winning entry.
