Brian John Mcpherson faces Maryborough court for public nuisance

Police were called after a guest at a Maryborough motel started swearing and yelling abuse.

Swearing and yelling abuse at other motel guests landed a man before Maryborough Magistrates Court.

Brian John Mcpherson, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of public nuisance when he faced court this week.

The court heard the single dad was “heavily intoxicated” when he began having issues with other guests at Maryborough City Motel.

When he became verbally abusive, the manager called police to the motel.

Mcpherson was sitting out the front of his room, the court was told, swearing and yelling.

He had also been accused of pushing another guest, which he denied.

Mcpherson told the court he was “very sorry” for his behaviour.

He said he never got time off, so when he came up for work from Brisbane, but when he found out he did not have to work, he decided to stay at the motel.

“I shouldn’t have drunk so much,” he said.

Mcpherson had no prior criminal history.

He was fined $300 and a conviction was not recorded.
