Alicia Wade to run for Division 6 seat at Fraser Coast council election

Award-winning author and “gratitude” guru, Alicia Wade will contest Division 6 at the upcoming Fraser Coast Regional Council election.

A Hervey Bay resident whose overcame an almost fatal miscarriage and the trauma of abuse to become a successful businesswoman has put her hand up for the March 16, Fraser Coast council election.

Alicia Wade will contest Division 6 of the council, currently held by David Lewis who will retire.

The miscarriage that left her in emergency for 10 hours “was an emotional roller coaster ride, which was hard on my mental health and emotional wellbeing”.

“The doctors said I was lucky not to have gone into cardiac arrest with my blood pressure at 60 over 40 at one stage,” Alicia said.

“Despite all of this I came through the other side and am now blessed with one beautiful daughter Milana who started high school this week.”

Her career began in childcare as an early educator in 2001; from there she rose through the ranks to become a group leader in 2003, director in 2011 to operations manager in 2014.

Since arriving on the Fraser Coast from Sydney in 2014, she has worked as a business management consultant in Wondunna, and established herself an award-winning author, speaker, and creator of The Gratitude Method, a way of finding happiness and fulfillment through gratitude.

According to her Amazon.com profile, after losing everything in 2015 and again in 2021, Alicia made a life-changing decision to commit to 365 days of gratitude for life.

“This decision led her to discover the power of gratitude, which she now shares with the world through her work as a gratitude expert. Through her books, journals, programs, and clothing line, Alicia inspires and empowers people to find joy and fulfillment by practicing gratitude daily.where she has won numerous accolades such as the International Best Selling Author Award in 2020 for her best seller Dr Gratitude.”

Along with all this, she is highly active in the community through her work with the Hervey Bay Chamber of Commerce and Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.

She began working with the Chamber of Commerce in 2o23 and with their collaboration helped start the community group Women’s Walk.

The group which came into fruition in December helps “connect women who have been socially isolated within their communities” and now has over 1000 followers on Facebook and well as 600 members in a private group.

Alicia has previously run for both the Division 10 and 7 seats held by Zane O’Keefe and Jan Hegge respectively, and said if elected on March 16 she would bring “a wealth of expertise in business management and strategic planning” onto council.
