A record-breaking crowd has turned up as the Fraser Coast Show marked a massive milestone.
This year marks the show’s 150th year and it was bigger and better than ever, with an array of events and displays at Maryborough Showgrounds.
From equestrian events to sideshow alley, cake competitions, the region’s biggest pumpkin, livestock displays and rides, there was plenty to see and do.
It is understood more than 17,000 streamed through the gates during the show holiday on Friday.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour attended the event and said it was the best yet.
“Scott Hillier and everyone at the Show Society have done an excellent job this year making sure that even in its 150th year our show remains relevant, exciting and engaging for people of all ages,” he said.
“I have been going to the show for over 20 years and this was the best I have seen.
“A record crowd having a great time.”
Fraser Coast councillor Paul Truscott also had plenty of praise for the organisers.
“It was wonderful to attend the 150th Fraser Coast show today and celebrate the milestone.
“Massive crowds and fantastic weather helped to make it a huge success.
“Thanks to all the volunteers and staff that put in enormous hours to make the show such a great event for the Fraser Coast.”
Thursday was very much about the schoolkids, with lots of groups taking the chance to take in the fun of woodworking and enjoy the petting zoo.
