A photo of a disgusting “pinker than pink” burger from a Brisbane Hungry Jack’s franchise has sparked outrage on social media.
A man shared a cringe-worthy photo of a Hungry Jack’s fried chicken burger he bought from the Herston franchise on Sunday night, described as “warm meat-flavoured jelly”.
“So glad my partner and I decided to split this chicken burger,” the man said.
“Hungry Jack’s at Herston is dishing out salmonella,” he said.
The picture depicted raw chicken coated in batter between two buns, with lettuce and sauce.
The man said on the plus side the burger was free because of the store’s Uno game, “It just went straight in the bin.”
“On the downside, from now on I’m going to be super sketchy with all takeaway chicken burgers,” he said.
The man said he reported the incident to the Queensland Health Department.
The post on Reddit prompted more shocking stories.
Another resident said she had experience similarly bad food at the Herston franchise.
“Herston’s our closest location too and every single time I’ve ordered there it’s been absolute dogsh-t,” a woman said.
“Stale chips, tough and overcooked patties, we’ve become a strictly no-HJ household,” she said.
One Reddit user commented that uncooked chicken can make people very sick.
“If that happens to someone with already compromised health it could be extremely serious,” he said.
A Hungry Jack’s spokesman said food safety was its highest priority.
“Hungry Jack’s has rigorous quality assurance processes and appropriate training systems in place,” a spokesman said.
“We were made aware of the complaint late Sunday night and have contacted the customer.”
