Landowners from the Southern and Western Downs will be issued new valuations for their land today, after the latest research proved that land value had increased since the last evaluations in October 2022.

Overall research provided by the valuer-general shows the Southern Downs have experienced an increase of 75 per cent, Western Downs have increased by 81 per cent, Balonne was 98 per cent and Maranoa has increased by 99 per cent.

Queensland's Valuer-General Laura Dietrich announced today that the new evaluations would be issued to 45,152 landowners from the Southern to Western Downs, Balonne and Maranoa.

“Today’s land valuations are the result of months of hard work and extensive research and analysis by the State Valuation Service,” Mrs Dietrich said.

She said the land value across the South West and Darling Downs regions have increased significantly however residential values have been varied.

“These land valuations reflect property market changes since the local government areas were last valued with the date of revaluation being October 1, 2022,” she said.

“The new valuations will take effects from June 30 this year.”

The Southern Downs region also showed an increase across all land categories whereas the Western Downs showed various increases in residential median land values.

Mrs Dietrich said severe weather events played a role in the valuation process.

“Land valuations provide independent data for various industries and allows landowners to monitor the movement in the value of their land,” she said.

“Local governments and the Queensland Revenue Office may use this information as an input to their rating and land tax considerations.”

The latest valuation data can be accessed on the Queensland Government website.
