A Dalby man who police allege stabbed another person more than a dozen times with a pair of scissors during a fight has applied for bail.

Zak Bandera was allegedly involved in crime sprees that spanned several months and led to him previously being refused bail in June, according to police prosecutor Chris Hutchins.

Sergeant Hutchins told Dalby Magistrates Court in one instance the 20-year-old allegedly stabbed a person with scissors repeatedly during a fight in August last year.

Police alleged Mr Bandera hid the item in his hand while punching the other person, causing 13 stab wounds and requiring more than 100 stitches.

Police say the 20-year-old then threatened to kill his brother in September.

He then allegedly evaded police on a motorcycle and avoided police apprehension, the court heard.

Defence solicitor Jessica Hine said her client, who has been in custody since February, had strong ties to the community and was expecting a baby with his girlfriend.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan said Mr Bandera was still an unacceptable risk to the community and refused his application for bail.

Mr Bandera is charged with 20 offences including wounding, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, producing drugs, possessing explosives, assault, threatening violence, receiving tainted property, evasion, and driving while unlicensed, unregistered and uninsured

Mr Bandera was remanded in custody until his next court date on October 19.
