Western Downs man mentioned in court for alleged historical child sex abuse

A Western Downs man accused of historical child sex offences had his case heard in Dalby Magistrates Court.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his alleged victims, was mentioned in court on March 30, charged with:

• 4 counts of disabling in order to commit indictable offence
• 1 count of indecent treatment of a child under 16 (indecent film etc)
• 1 count of indecent treatment of a child under 16 (indecent film etc) child under 12 years
• 3 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 (procure to commit) child under 12 years
• 3 counts of indecent treatment of a children under 16
• 8 counts of indecent treatment of a children under 16 – child under 12 years
• 7 counts of indecent treatment of children under 16 child under 12 years
• 2 counts of rape

The man was represented by defence solicitor Andrew Hanlon via phone, with his appearance excused.

Mr Hanlon told the court there was at least one statement still outstanding for the defence, and asked for further material to be disclosed by police prosecutions.

Mr Hanlon clarified to Magistrate Tracy Mossop these were historical matters, with no current child complainants.

The matter was adjourned for mention on April 27.
