A Dalby man’s alcohol-fueled tirade against police where he called them “pigs” and “c---s” has led to him being heavily fined in court.

Matthew William Halliday pulled his car into Coutts Street in Dalby on the afternoon of August 16 when he ran into police, who were investigating another matter.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady said police detained the 42-year-old for a breath test, and while speaking to him, he became “aggressive”.

The court heard he began to point in their faces and call police “pigs”, yelled the word “c---” twice, and told them to “f--k off”.

Sergeant Brady said when Halliday was told he had to go down to the police station, he called them “c---s”, before police had to “physically restrain him” as he attempted to pull away from them.

The 42-year-old later returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.116.

Representing himself, the unemployed dad said he became upset because police wouldn’t let him lock his front door during his arrest.

Halliday pleaded guilty to public nuisance, obstruct police, and drink driving, was fined $1000, and disqualified from driving for nine months.

No conviction was recorded.
