A Dalby man entrusted to care for a vulnerable client instead nicked one of her cards and gave it to a friend.

Khan Stewart Mihaka was charged by police after his sneaky theft was uncovered by his own victim.

Dalby Magistrates Court heard the father of four took the woman’s cab charge card, which is a type of credit card to assist with transport around the area.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady said Mihaka gave the card to a friend who unlawfully used it in July, 2020.

The 39-year-old was interviewed by police, where he admitted to giving the card to someone else.

Defence solicitor Jessica Hine said Mihaka had since made amends with his client.

Ms Hine said she was instructed that it was an “error of judgment” on her client’s part.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan told Mikaha that the fact he “took advantage” of the situation meant he needed to be appropriately punished.

Mihaka pleaded guilty to one charge of dishonestly using a person’s property to gain benefit for another person, and was fined $400.
