Dalby mum Alisha Jane Klease faces court after significant amount of cannabis was found by police

A court has been told a young Dalby mum bought cannabis ‘in bulk’, after her home was raided by police where a significant quantity of the drug was discovered. All the details.

A mum was busted with a large amount of drugs after police searched her Dalby property, with her lawyer claiming she only had the significant amount due to buying it “in bulk”.

Alisha Jane Klease appeared at Dalby Magistrates Court on May 16 after confessing to police the drugs at her residence was hers.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady said the 22-year-old woman was at a Dalby home on April 23 where authorities discovered “two small buds” of marijuana that weighed less than a gram, along with two pipes used for smoking.

“Subsequent searches found chopped leafy material that weighed 98.9 grams, which is not an insignificant amount,” he said.

“She said everything was hers, and was for personal use.”

Defence lawyer Hamish Chapman said the Dalby mum and her ex-boyfriend split due to the drug bust.

“She did have it in bulk, I can only suggest she’s thrifty in that respect,” Mr Chapman said.

Magistrate Kyna Morice acknowledged the woman’s history and noted she had been dealt with for producing drugs and possessing utensils 18 months ago.

“It’s a lot of cannabis,” Ms Morice said.

“You should know better than to be in possession.”

Klease pleaded guilty to one count of possessing drugs, possessing used utensils and possessing property suspected of being used for drugs.

She was fined $800. No conviction was recorded.

“You won’t continue to get that (benefit),” Ms Morice said.
