Two people have fronted court accused of carrying out a horror hammer attack in broad daylight, which was reportedly foiled by the efforts of heroic neighbours.
Kevin Patrick Morrison and Sarah Nixon appeared in Dalby Magistrate Court this morning, facing a raft of charges including two counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and in company.
The pair were charged after a terrifying alleged incident on Nicholson St, Dalby, where neighbours came to the aid of an elderly man after he confronted the pair on his property.
An eyewitness told the Dalby Herald of the moment he and other neighbours had to “pin them to the ground” after the pair allegedly used a weapon, believed to be a hammer, to assault the man and another neighbour.
Both were taken into custody and charged later that day.
Morrison, 32, was charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and in company, stealing, receiving tainted property, possessing tainted property and driving without a licence.
He did not apply for bail.
Nixon, 34, was charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and in company, stealing and receiving tainted property.
She applied for bail but it was refused.
They were each remanded in custody until the next mention on December 14.
