A Western Downs police officer has shared the Christmas and New Years period was a quiet one for crime due to many residents travelling to the coast for holidays.
It was reported however that between December 27 and January 2, a unit on Edward St was broken into, with offenders gaining access to the property through a locked side entrance.
A Queensland police spokesperson said the offenders damaged an internal screen of the side door before finding keys to a 2015 white Holden Cruze Sedan and taking off with it.
The car has still not been located since.
“It’s normally quiet in Dalby for Christmas and New Year because people go away to the coast,” the spokesperson said.
“It’s no busier than a regular Friday or Saturday night.”
