A man alleged to have murdered a Western Downs man earlier this year and attempted to murder two others has returned to Dalby Magistrates Court.

Clinton Gordon Sutcliffe appeared by video link in court on Monday morning four months after his original charge of dangerous operation of vehicle was upgraded to murder.

Police allege on May 30 the 36-year-old “deliberately rammed” his Nissan X-Trail into a car that had three occupants including 22-year-old Dale McKenna and caused the vehicle to roll.

Mr McKenna was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital and was intensive care for 24 hours before having his life support turned off.

Defence lawyer Claire Graham appeared as town agent for Legal Aid in court on Monday.

She said a brief of evidence had been posted from her office to Legal Aid and the prosecution’s office had received additional material that needed to be disclosed.

Mr Sutcliffe’s mother was asked to leave when the court was closed to discuss the man’s other charges, which the court was told he would be representing himself on.

The man has been charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and 25 other charges relating to phone calls Mr Sutcliffe allegedly made.

Acting magistrate Michael Bice ordered for the man to be remanded in custody and matters to be adjourned to October 31 in Dalby Magistrates Court.
