Siblings charged with attempted murder after man shot in neck at Chinchilla

A seven-month manhunt has come to close after police charged two people with attempted murder. Police will allege they were involved in an altercation that ended with a man shot on the neck.

Detectives have charged a Dalby brother and sister with attempted murder at the close of a seven month manhunt.

Maddison Kay Egan-Connors, 25 and Cameron Paul Egan, 23 are alleged to have been involved in an altercation at Chinchilla on December 5, 2023 where a 36-year-old man was allegedly shot in the neck.

Police will allege that just before 1.30pm on December 5, multiple people attended a Rodger St address where a confrontation took place.

During this altercation, the 36-year-old male resident was shot in the neck before the alleged offenders fled in a silver utility vehicle.

The vehicle was later located in northern NSW.

Following extensive investigations, Mr Egan was charged on June 14 with one count each of attempted murder, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, receiving tainted property, and unlicensed driving, two counts of evading police, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and five counts of enter and commit.

His matters were briefly mentioning in the Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he was remanded in custody until his next court appearence on August 20.

He was not required to enter a plea and made no application for bail.

At about 3.30pm on June 30, it is alleged that officers attempted to intercept a stolen vehicle on Broadwater Rd in Dalby before it allegedly evaded police and attempted to flee the area.

The vehicle was tracked for a period of time before Ms Egan-Connors and an 18-year-old man were taken into custody on the Moonie Highway.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a Wood St address on June 19.

The 25-year-old Dalby woman has since been charged with one count each of attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, armed robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle, evading police, driving a motor vehicle while unlicensed, and two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle.

She was remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Dalby Magistrates Court on August 19.

The passenger in the stolen vehicle, an 18-year-old Dalby man, was charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit, and enter premises and commit indictable offence by break.
