Dalby PCYC Boxing Club went four for four at the Hervey Bay Tradie Fights.

Fighters Joshua “JJ” Hassan, Beau Von Pein and Corey Flemming all came away with strong wins while Judd Alderton put on a strong performance in an exhibition bout last Saturday.

Coach Andrew Alderton said JJ was first up, putting on a characteristically crafty performance.

“JJ fought first against a pretty good boxer, JJ tried his skills out on him and it worked extremely well and he walked away with the win,” he said.

“It was good fight from him because he was able to learn to fight against a different style of fighter, (his opponent) was an orthodox, one-dimensional sort of fighter who wanted to engage but couldn’t keep up with JJ’s movements.”

Young gun Beau Von Pein was up next putting on a good showing for his third ever bout.

“Beau fought very well against a southpaw which was also a learning experience for him because he hadn’t fought a lefty before,” coach Alderton said.

“The first round was a little confusing for him and it probably could’ve gone either way but once we spoke to him in the corner and told him that he was fighting a southpaw and he needed to change his style he dominated the next two rounds.”

Judd fought next in his exhibition bout with the more relaxed stakes allowing him to try new things in the ring.

“We had Judd up next but his was only an exhibition because I couldn't get him another fight, in saying that it was a good exhibition,” Alderton senior said.

“It was a good experience for him because he got to calm down and just box, try different moves and move his feet and his head, because it was an exhibition he got to chill a bit and box instead of people grabbing his arms and tying him up.”

Capping off the night was Corey Fleming, who showed significant improvements from his first fight.

“Corey was last out, this was Corey’s second fight and mate did he shine, he was unbelievable if you looked at his last fight and this one it was two different fighters,” Alderton said.

“His experience and skill level has improved so much, he kept a great distance, his foot movement and head movement were awesome and he was using a killer left jab.

“The three boys all got the trophy and Judd had an awesome exhibition match.”

The team are now preparing for the Australian titles on July 1.
